Another night, another browser tab promising digital affection. This one's called something like Gay Harem or whatever, I don't know, the title bar just says "adult flash game" and my antivirus didn't scream so here we are. You pick a spot on a map, some beach or a gym that looks like it smells of stale sweat and broken dreams, and then a guy appears. Not a real guy obviously, a collection of pixels with a jawline sharp enough to cut the sexual tension. And you talk. You actually have to read.
The whole thing runs on dialogue choices, which is hilarious because I can't even choose the right thing to say on Grindr and now I'm supposed to navigate a conversation tree to see a cartoon dick. I picked the cocky bodybuilder first, said something I thought was flirty, and he basically told me to fuck off. My chest actually hurt for a second. A drawing rejected me. This is where I'm at. Then I reloaded, groveled a bit, and suddenly we're in a hot tub and his pixelated monster is out. The payoff is so stupidly simple, just static images and some looping animation that's probably older than my last working relationship, but I felt a weird sense of accomplishment. Like I earned that low-res peen.
The sound is nonexistent, just the sad hum of my laptop fan, which honestly adds to the desperate vibe. There's over twelve characters apparently, but I got stuck on a twink with a tragic backstory for twenty minutes and never even got his pants off. The writing is... something. It's like a horny robot wrote a soap opera. One minute you're discussing his dead goldfish, the next he's asking if you're a top. No music, no voice acting, just the deafening silence of my own poor life choices filling the room. I wish there was a skip button for the feelings, but there isn't. You gotta wade through the angst to get to the anus. That's probably a metaphor.
