You know what I hate about most of these games? The setup is always some fantasy bullshit. Magic portal, demon lord, whatever. The Roommate just drops you into Seattle. A promotion, a cheap apartment deal, and oh yeah, some woman from your office got the same offer. Her name is Kari. She’s got this whole mysterious thing going on, the kind of look that makes you forget your own name for a second. And the game basically says, if you don’t let her stay, she’s homeless. So you’re not a hero, you’re just a guy who doesn’t want that on his conscience. Also she’s hot. Let’s be real.

The art is that clean CG hentai style, very polished, which I love. But then the story, I swear to god, the sequence of events feels like someone dropped the script and put the pages back in wrong. One minute you’re talking about rent, the next you’re in a scene with your neighbor that feels like it should have happened three days later. It’s a visual novel where you’re clicking and suddenly you’re just... somewhere else. I spent way too long fixated on the coworker’s earrings in one render. They were just detailed enough to be distracting. Why? No reason. The game doesn’t care about the earrings. I don’t know why I did.

The sex stuff is there, with the roommate, the neighbor, the coworker. The scenes are hot, well drawn, but you don’t always feel like you earned them. You’re just clicking and then bodies are moving. It’s like a first date where she just skips the appetizer and puts your hand down her pants under the table. You’re not gonna complain, but you’re also thinking, wait, did I miss a step? You can’t really control the big moments, they just kind of happen to you. Which is fine, I guess. Sometimes I just want to see the neighbor’s tits without a whole personality quiz first. The whole thing is a beautiful, confusing mess that occasionally gets you laid. I think I missed a whole character’s backstory because I was staring at the way the light hit Kari’s collarbone. No regrets.
