A button that just says "polish" and it's for a shoe. Not a euphemism. An actual shoe. I stared at that for a weirdly long time, right after the head maid finished a monologue about my "needs" with a straight face. The whole setup is this manor where everyone, from the stern mistress to the skittish new servant, exists to orbit your whims. it's a visual novel that knows exactly what it is, a delivery system for very specific cg hentai scenes. The art is the whole point. The writing is just the glue.
And that glue is sometimes just... dry. There's a character, I think her name was Elara?, who has this whole subplot about proving her worth that just sort of stops. Like a sneeze that never comes. You're clicking through dialogue about dusting techniques and then bam, a full scene because you selected "inspect the quarters." The game doesn't even pretend there's a logical bridge. It's almost charming in its single mindedness. The maid uniforms are exactly what you'd expect, crisp and black and white, designed to be removed in a very specific, almost ritualistic order. The "master" dynamic is played so straight it circles back to being funny. You get a dialogue option that's basically "Be kind" or "Be firm" and both lead to the same place, just with a different flavor text before the clothes start coming off.
The art itself though. It's that glossy, high contrast style where everythng looks a little wet. The blushing is applied with the subtlety of a paintball gun. One scene in the laundry room, steam everywhere, and the character's stockings are still perfectly rendered without a single wrinkle. That level of detail on the fabric, but then the background is just a blurry smudge. It's a choice. A weirdly effective one. It's like the artist spent 90% of the budget on how the apron strings dig into the uniform and said "fuck it" to everything else. The sound is just a looping piano track that I'm pretty sure I heard in a youtube tutorial once. I muted it after four minutes.
