Macario is fucked, plain and simple. Ex-boxer, tax debt, handcuffs, the whole deal. Then Miranda shows up, this girl who's technically the daughter of his new girlfriend, the one who's mysteriously not around. She bails him out. And just like that they're playing house, this weird pretend family waiting for Monica to come back. The whole setup feels like something out of those old PC-98 novels where the tension just sits in the room with you.
The apartment becomes this pressure cooker. I spent way too long on the dialogue where she's just making coffee, the pixel art doing that slight bobbing animation while the chiptune soundtrack loops some melancholy square wave melody. You know the type, something you'd dig out from a Keygen Church B-side. The fucking sound design, man. Every click has this metallic punch like an old SNES boxing game, which fits the protagonist's history I guess. But then there's a scene where you can hear rain against the window and it's just white noise that completely takes you out of it. Why are the sex scenes so quiet in comparison? The transition from the visual novel segments to the lewder parts is jarring, like someone forgot to render the audio layer.
During one of the first real choices you make, whether to peek or not basically, the game pulls this weird thing where the dialogue options are on a timer. Didn't expect that in a visual novel. Feels out of place, like they wanted to add some arcade DNA. Then the daughter character just drops all pretense out of nowhere. One minute they're talking about groceries, the next she's climbing onto him in the living room with this hyper-specific animation loop that's honestly well done for how unpolished the rest is. The group scenes later get incredibly crowded, six or seven family members somehow appearing in this tiny apartment. Pure porngame logic. The vaginal scenes are the only ones with any real detail work.
