The audio mix in this thing, I swear. You got this 26 year old guy, life imploding, transport strike, hotel bar. Standard setup. But the sound? It’s like they recorded the ambient bar murmur on a phone from 2008, then layered it with a stock “clink” effect that loops every 11 seconds. Not 10, not 12. Eleven. It’s a weird, specific hell. I fixated on it while the protagonist’s girlfriend was being all supportive before everything goes sideways. Her voice acting is actually pretty decent, a warm tone, but it’s compressed to shit. Peaks like crazy on the word “hateful”. Fitting, I guess.
Then the Goddess shows up. Her first appearance has this shimmering chime that’s genuinely nice, a clean high-frequency sweep that tickles the ears just right. A real sfx moment. But it’s immediately followed by her dialogue, which sounds like she’s speaking into a tin can from the bottom of a well. The contrast is violent. You’re trying to get into this wild, tantalizing opportunity with a divine milf, and all I can think about is the missing low-end in her voice. There’s a later scene, a slow teasing bit with the protagonist still technically a virgin in this weird situation, and the wet sounds are... fine? Overly crisp. Like someone squishing a damp sponge next to a $2000 microphone. It lacks the visceral, messy texture you’d expect. Sounds more like someone making a sandwich than cheating on a concept of a relationship.
The mobile game compression really murders any subtlety. Every button press has this sharp, plasticky “tick” that cuts through the mix. During a vaginal sex scene, the rhythmic slapping is buried under a sudden, loud gasp that nearly blew out my earbuds. No dynamic range whatsoever. It’s a shame because the animated sequences have a certain 3dcg charm, but the soundscape is a patchwork of forgotten faders and mismatched reverbs. One moment you’re in a dry, dead room, the next there’s a cavernous echo on a simple sigh. My brain just kept latching onto the bad foley instead of the romance. That bar clink loop is still haunting me. Eleven seconds. Why.
