The WE-TRACK-U-5000 is basically a cuck machine and I respect that. You play as Phoenix Wright, doing the usual courtroom shouting and evidence poking, but the real game happens when you switch to the tracker and watch Maya wandering off on her own. She's supposed to be investigating Bluecorp but instead she's getting cornered by security guards, or that one guy from the prosecutor's office who definitely wasn't in the original games. The pixel art is rough, like someone traced over screenshots and then drew boobs on top, which is exactly what happened probably. The minigames are weirdly specific. There's one where you have to match trading cards and the reward is just... more Maya in compromising situations. I spent twenty minutes on that card game. Twenty minutes. The writing tries to mimic Ace Attorney's rhythm with the sudden pauses and the dramatic zooms but then someone's shirt rips open and the tone just derails completely. It's jarring in a way that loops back around to being funny, though I'm not sure that's intentional.
The corruption tag is doing heavy lifting here. Maya starts off doing her usual spirit medium routine and by the third case she's actively seeking out situations that would make the original character cry. There's a scene with a Bluecorp executive that goes on for way too long, like the developer forgot to add a skip button. The netorare element is baked into the tracker mechanic, you're literally watching her drift away in real time while Phoenix is stuck reading case files. The parody aspect is surface level, they got the objection bubbles and the courtroom layout right but the dialogue sounds like someone who watched a let's play once and filled in the gaps with porn logic. The OC girl they're planning to add is mentioned in the menu but not actually in the game yet, which feels like ordering food and getting a picture of the meal instead. The point and click segments are functional, you click, things happen, sometimes those things are tits. I keep coming back to the card collection though. Why do I have seventeen Maya cards.
