Okay so the first time I clicked into Living with Belle I honestly thought my browser was broken. The art, right? It has this weirdly charming scuffed energy, like a drawing someone did on a napkin while very, very distracted. But Christ, does it know what it's about. Belle’s standing there in the apartment, that ridiculous parody of a certain princess, and the unspoken tension is just... thick. You can practically smell the set up. The game doesn't even pretend to care about the dating sim wrapper, the dialogue is pure setup for the next scene, not character building. I tried one option where you're just a complete slob, left a pizza box out, and her reaction was so perfectly exasperated it looped right back around to being hot.

There's this one roommate character, not Belle, who has a fixation with your... gaming hardware. I won't spoil the moment but I dropped my drink laughing at the sheer audacity. The writing for her comes out of nowhere, all this clinically detailed nonsense mixed with her very obvious other interests. The dialogue coding is clearly held together with hope and maybe some old forum posts. Got stuck on a loop with the landlady character once where she just kept doing a little idle bounce animation while I waited for a dialogue choice that never came. I just sat there, staring at this jittering parody of a stern authority figure, which honestly felt like a weirdly fitting, avant-garde statement on being trapped by your decisions. Or the budget ran out.

For a visual novel, the simulation stuff is just vibes. The "interaction" is clicking things and hoping the invisible affection score moves. But my god, that one scene with Belle after the cooking mini-game failure, the way the NSFW part triggers was so abrupt and the audio cue that played... pure early-internet rizz. It’s clunky as hell, the parody elements are as subtle as a brick, and the whole thing feels like it's one wrong click away from corrupting your save file at any second. And yet.
