Ok so this game, Heartsworn Abyss, right? That pawnshop scene where Rei first grabs Akari, when she's all shaky and her blouse is torn. The angle doesn't even try to hide it, her tits are practically spilling out and the art is that specific Japanese VN style where the skin looks kinda sweaty. It's hot but also like, the dialogue is so deadpan from Rei's side, he's muttering about unpaid loans while his hand is literally groping her over the counter. I don't know why that combo works but it does.

The netorare tag is not a joke here, it's the whole engine. Ryuichi is such a smug bastard and the worst part, the real kicker, is how the game makes you sit through his perspective. There's a whole branch where you see him scheming in his office but it's not just corporate takeover talk, no, it's him zooming in on photos of Akari, talking about her "unused holes" to his secretary like it's a quarterly report. The harassment scenes are genuinely grimy. Made me want to take a shower. Wish the sound design was dirtier though, the voice acting is good, Akari's little gasps, but the background music stays way too smooth jazz during some really vile groping on the train. Breaks the mood. Not in a good way.

What was I even saying. Oh right, the multiple endings. You'd think saving her is the point but the bad ends where Rei just... breaks, stops caring, lets the abyss eat them both, those are the ones that stick. The writing's actually got some weird poetry when it's describing the city's underbelly, all neon rot. But then it cuts to a scene where Ryuichi is just absolutely ruining her with a toy and Rei is forced to watch and the language becomes pure filth. So the balance is... it's not balanced at all. It's a mess. A sticky, depressing mess. I played it in one sitting and my back hurts. The groping minigame is stupid and I kept failing it on purpose just to see the CGs.
