the chessboard is 4x4 which is already kind of a joke, right? like someone looked at a real chess set and said "no, too much thinking." the pieces move in ways that feel almost random sometimes, the AI makes baffling choices, and i spent a good five minutes trying to figure out if i actually won a match or if the game just gave up on me. the whole thing has this rough, thrown together energy that i honestly find charming in a weird way. it reminds me of those old flash games that would crash your browser if you looked at them wrong.
the strip element is tied to an actual real model, a brunette who clearly knows what she's doing. her animations are a bit stiff, the transitions between states feel like someone learned video editing yesterday, but there's something about the unpolished nature that makes it feel more... intimate? less corporate porn, more like stumbling across something you weren't supposed to see. the striptease progresses as you capture pieces, and i kept losing on purpose just to see what happens when she wins. spoiler: she doesn't strip when she wins, which is a design choice i'm still mad about. why punish the player twice?
i wish there was more variety in her expressions. she has this one look that's supposed to be sultry but after the third match it starts feeling like she's staring through my soul and judging my terrible chess skills. which, fair. the erotic tension builds decently though, the slow reveal works better than it should for a game that looks like it was coded in a weekend. i forgot to mention the sound design. probably because there barely is any. just some generic clicks and a music track that loops so aggressively i had to mute my tab and play my own playlist. spotify's "dark academia" instrumental mix actually pairs surprisingly well with watching a woman slowly remove her clothes over a miniature chess board. not a sentence i thought i'd ever type.
