So I played this thing called Anita's Awakening or whatever. It's a kinetic novel, which is just a fancy way of saying you sit there clicking like a trained monkey while the story happens AT you. No choices. Zero. The dev even admits it in the description, all sheepish like "I know I know don't freak out." Well I'm freaking out. What is this, a PowerPoint presentation from 1998?

The whole deal is this 18 year old girl discovering her body. Riveting stuff. But then halfway through, BAM, you're suddenly her dad. Just like that. No warning. You're reading about this teenage girl touching herself for the first time, getting all worked up about her own reflection, and then the perspective shifts and you're this middle aged man creeping on his daughter. The voyeurism tag makes sense now. I actually dropped my phone. Not because it was shocking, but because the transition was so clunky I thought my browser glitched. The dad sections feel like they were written by someone who just discovered what a "feeling" is. Very deep. Much emotion.

The teasing is constant but goes nowhere. There's this whole scene where she's trying on clothes and the narration describes every single thread of fabric like it's the most important thing in the universe. I spent what felt like an eternity reading about a skirt. A SKIRT. And then nothing happens. She just... puts it back. The exhibitionism is just her looking in a mirror mostly. Groundbreaking.

The art is deliberately unpolished, which I guess is a style choice. It looks like someone drew it on a bus. A bumpy bus. But somehow that adds to the whole uncomfortable vibe. Like finding a stranger's diary written in crayon. You shouldn't read it but you do. The masturbation scenes are described with this weird clinical detachment that makes everything feel more awkward than hot. "Her hand moved in a squish squash motion" or whatever the dev said in the description. Who says squish squash about that? Is this a sex story or a cooking recipe?

I wish there was actual gameplay but there won't be. This is just the "pre story" apparently. A taste. A 45 minute taste of blue balls. The transformation tag is barely there unless you count going from "innocent girl" to "girl who touched herself once" as a transformation. Which I don't.
