I keep coming back to the weird way the cursor changes during the corruption scenes. It's such a tiny thing but it got stuck in my head. Like the game itself is getting turned on watching what you're doing. Revenge's Resilience is this messy, horny visual novel about a guy who's supposed to be consumed by vengeance but honestly I spent most of my time just trying to see how far I could push the neighbor lady's moral boundaries. The psychology stuff is there I guess, the fractured psyche and all that, but the real draw is the slow burn of watching someone's resistance crumble.

The animations are janky in that specific way that somehow makes them hotter. Not smooth at all, kind of stuttery, but when the creampie scene finally hits after all that buildup it lands exactly right. There's this one moment with the main corruption target where she's masturbating and the animation loops in this hypnotic, almost uncomfortable way. I couldn't look away. The 3DCG models have ridiculous proportions, absolutely absurd tits and ass, and normally that would pull me out of it but here it just works. It fits the whole overheated revenge fantasy vibe.

I do wish the male protagonist wasn't such a blank slate. For a story about inner conflict he mostly just stands there while things happen around him. But then again maybe that's the point. You're supposed to project. I got distracted halfway through writing this thinking about that one vaginal sex scene where the camera angle shifts and you can see everything. The sound design is nothing special, just basic wet noises, but combined with the stuttering animation it creates this raw, almost found-footage quality that I didn't expect to work on me as much as it did. The romance tag is doing some heavy lifting though. It's more like transactional affection that slowly warps into something else. Which I guess is its own kind of romance if you're broken enough.
