Was replaying the church room start for the caoticus anonymous chain and the image of Elana just getting railed on the altar while some acolyte watches, dick in hand, is still living in my head. The flash compression they had to do for Newgrounds really did a number on the art though, it's all a bit crunchy and soft focus like looking at a jpeg from 2004. There's a blog link for the regular quality version but honestly who has the patience to download a separate thing when the browser tab is right there. The quest log addition is a lifesaver because before this update finding some triggers was like navigating a maze in the dark with your hands tied.

The whole tavern management thing they added, you can hire like 12 characters and dress them up in different outfits, and they all have unique sentences per outfit. Spent way too long just cycling through the tavern worker outfits, the 36 images for that alone, and the promise of one event per outfit in the future is the kind of delayed gratification that drives you nuts. Jenara at the war camp has a standing animation that's got this little hip sway, three events and two images, and Cliff is there too with his stuff but I'm not here for him. The fight difficulty got nerfed which is good because I'm here for the scenes not the grind, and the nymph events now have a 50% chance to show an image or restore stats which is a coin flip I'm always happy to take. The academy events are a whole new can of worms with 20 events and about 12 images, some real "teacher's pet" scenarios if you catch my drift.

The night events in the market got four new images and they're the kind of content that makes you double-check your door's locked. The interface overhaul is cleaner, the wait until night button is a small mercy, and the debug code for money, kginsertcoin, feels like the devs just gave up on pretending this isn't about getting to the good stuff. The standing animations for singular characters are a nice touch, makes the world feel less like a slideshow even if the whole thing's held together with spit and Flash player updates. The elven city observing events are still just teasing at something bigger, and the church of Elana reformation is a placeholder that'll probably pay off in another update when I've forgotten about it entirely.

I got this weird little medal on my desk at work, one of those participation trophy things from a team building exercise that nobody wanted. I'm polishing it with my thumb, thinking about how Elana's whole deal is basically the same energy. Show up, do the grind, unlock the weird stuff. Only her grind is leveling magic and muscles so she can, uh, "interact" with every single person on this island. Not a bad career path, honestly.

The click to move around the kingdom feels like using an old GPS that's slightly drunk. You'll miss a doorway three times, swear a bit, then suddenly you're in a scene where she's putting those new stats to very practical use. The hentai bits are everywhere once you get rolling, and the art has this sketchy, unpolished quality that somehow makes it hotter. Like finding a dirty doodle in a notebook instead of a glossy magazine. I spent a good chunk of my lunch break just trying to figure out the spell upgrade tree, which is more complicated than my actual quarterly reports. Then Elana cornered the blacksmith and I forgot what I was even trying to optimize. Priorities shift.

The constant updates thing is a double edged sword. Came back after a week and half my favorite exploits were patched, but there was a new fisherman with a whole questline that got surprisingly dark. Wish the inventory management wasn't such a mess. You collect all these reagents and then the menu just eats them sometimes. Poof. Gone. Like my motivation on a Friday afternoon. But then there's a scene with the temple priestess that uses some late game magic in a way I genuinely didn't see coming, and I'm back in, thumb hovering over the mouse, boss walking by my cubicle. Just staring at spreadsheets, Karen. Nothing to see here.

The church management screen is where I lost about forty minutes just staring at numbers. Not even the sexy kind of numbers. Faith points, follower morale, some spirit I accidentally recruited that looks like a sad jellyfish. I kept clicking it hoping for a scene but no, just more management. Then I remembered there's a whole demon war happening somewhere and I'm playing spreadsheet simulator with a jellyfish ghost.

The actual fucking though. When it finally happens. There's this one animation with the Archmage that has no right being that fluid in a Flash game from whenever this was made. Her legs do this thing where they sort of tremble and then lock up and the audio kicks in from that listentopo site and it's just... yeah. I had to mute it because the moaning was too much, then unmuted it, then muted again. The 6 minute cinematic near the end is basically just an extended sex scene with some plot sprinkled on top like salt. The demons world section has combat animations that are genuinely better than the sex animations in some other games I've played, which feels backwards but I'm not complaining.

The wild people village part drags. There's too much walking between events and half the images are still placeholder sketches in this beta. You can tell where the Patreon polls forced content in because suddenly there's a fully voiced scene with Jane and then immediately after you're clicking through text boxes with no art at all. The Morrow section has this one choice where you can basically speedrun Elana's corruption or keep her "pure" longer, but the pure path just means less content so why would you. The final boss of the Peace Guard, Adot, has a defeat scene that made me forget about the missing images for a while. Something about the way the text describes what happens after you win. Or lose. Both are worth seeing honestly. The elven castle has a throne room scene that I wish had more variations because I replayed it three times and got the same outcome each time despite picking different dialogue. Maybe that's intentional, maybe the beta just isn't finished there. The wiki says there's supposed to be more but the blog updates are from 2018 so I'm not holding my breath. Still, that one animation with the spirits. The translucent ones. When they overlap. That's going to live in my head for a while.
